How can I tell if a 1908 Elgin pocket watch is solid gold?

I have a 1908 Elgin pocket watch that I have been told is solid gold. Also, I have a Howard and Waltham I believe are as well. I can find no wording on them to indicate that. Is there a mark or lack of marks that will indicate this? Any ideas? I have

1899 Elgin Pocket Watch

A review of an 1899 Elgin pocket watch that has always been in my family!

Elgin 15J Sidewinder Pocket Watch. This antique pocket watch has 15 jewels and is a size 12 (case diameter 45 mm). The original Elgin dial is painted gold color with Deco style numerals, and light delicate hands. Dial is in very nice condition. The case is nickel or chrome plate and has almost no wear, but does have one scratch on the back, see image. The 15 jewel movement is in nice condition, and was made in about 1914. This is called a sidewinder because it winds on the side at 3 o’clock. This watch runs and keeps reasonable time, but please be aware, I do not know the service history on most of the watches that I sell. This means that if you plan to wear a watch, you might need to have the watch cleaned and oiled soon.
