Mets tickets are being purchased by the fans despite the dismal performance of the team in 2007. This just shows the love the fans have for this team, cheering them and rooting for them to encourage them to play their best match ever this season.
History
The Mets were formed in the year 1961 as the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club Inc. They participate in the Eastern Division of the National League. It is a fact that the team lost quite a few matches during the initial years but as the years passed the team began to perform and capture a fan following that today makes them one of the most popular teams ever. Stars such as Nolan Ryan, Tug Mcgraw, Darryl Strawberry and Ron Darling were instrumental in the team's success. The team has played in two ballparks, the Polo Grounds and the Shea Stadium. This is the last season that the team will play in the Shea Stadium, one of the oldest ballparks in the country, before moving to its new home park Citi Field in 2009.
