Fireworks Cake Topper
My friend's wedding is on Friday, July 4th, so she is finishing up the last minute preparations. She had found a cake topper made of Swarovski crystal that resembled fireworks, but cost $40.00 plus shipping. First of all, Swarovski crystal contains lead and you don't want that ANYWHERE near your food. Secondly, why pay $40.00 when you can go down to Michael's and spend $7.50 on the clear beads and wire? So, I offered to make the topper and asked Lori to give me a hand, since she has so much experience working with wire (she has been designing and making jewelry for years). This is what we came up with (and we have plenty more individual ones for her to sprinkle throughout the cake, if she wants to):
