Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but, someone told me that authentic gold rings have a symbol engraved inside. Is this true? If so, I have an '8' inscribed. What does this mean?

All gold rings need to be hallmarked in order to be classed authentic. If all that you ring is marked with is an 8 it could mean that your ring is not gold, your ring does not contain enough gold to be classified as gold (it has to be over 97% i think
