Great office chair : December 19, 2010

Let’s first admit that it’s an expensive chair. Not ridiculously so, but still out of the range for most. I had an Aeron at my previous office, and was using a cheap Aeron knockoff for a couple of years after that. I liked the aeron when I got it, but have to say that this chair is much more comfortable. The aeron was more ascetic – correct for posture and all that, but still a bit lean. The Embody is…softer and firmer at the same time. It’s not that there’s more padding, but the suspension system they use sure makes it feel that way – it’s firm and only yields where it should, and that is the essence of this chair. As someone noted, with the armrests it can be annoying that when you lean heavily to one side, and grab the other side’s armrest it can pop out of position. Easy enough to move it back, but it does seem a bit sloppy. Otherwise, as you might expect, the chair is of solid (and weighty) design.
